A special training programme is going to be elaborated by the FAG Hungary, Industrial Manufacturing Ltd.Co. for the purposes of the Mechwart András Mechanical Engineering and Informatics Vocational Secondary School of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSzC), thus rendering its existing relationship with the school even closer.
A historic announcement was made in the Houses of Parliament on January 9: the state of Hungary has purchased the painting ’’Golgota” (Golgotha) by Mihály Munkácsy from art-collector Mr. Imre Pákh for 3 billion HUF.

This anniversary of the arrival of Lajos Kossuth, the ’’Moses of Hungarians” and the Holy Royal Crown of Hungary in Debrecen was commemorated and celebrated with a large-scale show in the main square on Sunday, January 6, 2019. The actors of the Csokonai National Theatre of Debrecen and 80 dancers conjured up the events that took place in 1849.
Mrs. László Sólyom of Debrecen turned 95 on December 30, 2018. On this occassion she was complimented by Mr. László Czellér, councilman for the ward and Mrs. Judit Hüse Sipos, staff member of the Social Welfare Department of the Mayor’s Office at the Szávay street senior citizens’ home in the circle of the members of Aunt Klári’s family and the staff of the senior citizens’ home.
Solemnly uplifting was the concert given by the Kodály Philharmony in the Nagytemplom (Big Church) filled to capacity on January 01, 2019. Prior to the musical event that has already become traditional, Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen and Right Reverend Károly Fekete, bishop of the Reformed Church district addressed the audience.
An important element of the Christmas Charity Action of the Debrecen Charity Corps is its ’’blue-bucket” donation-raising drive of the Dorcas Service. The organizers have raised donations of foodstuffs sufficient to aid 3000 families by joining forces with the Municipal Government of Debrecen City of County Rights, the member organizations of this body, the Debrecen Sports Centre Non-profit Ltd.Co., the ’’Kedvenc” store-chain and the Főnix Event-organizations non-profit Ltd. Co.
The realization of the project ’’precipitation drainage” got started in the Fészek residential park of Vulkántelep in the Nagysándor quarter of town in the framework of the New Phoenix Plan. Related to this project, a new hard surface road is built in Harsona street from Kishegyesi avenue all the way to Nagy Mihály Gardens. Subsequent to the construction of the precipitation drainage, similar road-building works can be launched in other streets, too. The details of the plans were revealed by Ms. Diána Széles, deputy mayor of Debrecen, and councilwoman for the ward on December 19, 2018.
Everyday life has become easier for the residents in the Epreskert and Tégláskert quarters of town, for it has become easier for them to get access to Mikepércsi avenue. The new road surfaces were inaugurated by Mr. László Papp, mayor or Debrecen, Mr. László Pósán, Member of Parliament for Debrecen and Mr. Gyula Szabó councilman for the ward on December 18, 2018. Now the local residents have a new exit onto Mikepércsi avenue. On top of it, the new road is furnished with new public lighting thus making it easier for those arriving at Airport Debrecen to drive than it had been before the development project.
