Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen said that the design work of the new terminal would be tendered within the current year. Passenger traffic in Debrecen Airport is growing year by year. In the first part of the current decade only a couple of thousand passengers (hardly more than ten thousand) took advantage of the services of Debrecen International Airport (DIA), while last year there were 380 thousand passengers and it is expected to be in excess of 600 000 by the end of this year. There are, at present, 14 destinations available directly from Debrecen while flights take off to popular resort islands in winter, too.
