Continental to begin building manufacturing plant in Debrecen
„A new cast of mind and development is to be brought to our city by Continental, a new type of industrial development that has become dominant in Debrecen” – said Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen, complimenting the investment on the occasion of the ceremonial laying of its foundation stone on September 17, 2018. The company is about to create 450 new jobs in the city.
Mr. Stephan Rebhan told the public that they would be manufacturing automatic trasmissions at the plant under construction in Debrecen – products embodying significant innovations that are to be first manufactured in Debrecen of all places in the world. The business unit of sensors and actuators will also be getting into the focus. He also pointed out that the recruitment of labour had also been launched.
Mr. Hans-Jürgen Braun, head of the Central Electronic Unit of Continental Co. said that the newest technologies would be applied. Debrecen will be learning from Continental Co. and Continental Co. will be learning from Debrecen.
Mr. Lucas Juranek, manager of the Debrecen manufacturing plant highlighted in his speech: the most important factor is the highly trained manpower, these employees will be found and cooperation with the university is excellent already.
Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen, reminded all that in February this year, when Continental’s coming to locate in Debrecen was first announced, he had said that this would be the investment of the superlatives. Since then many events have happened, but he still thinks that this will be one of the most momentous investments from the viewpont of the city’s future.
According to Mr. Levente Magyar, parlamentary state secretary, Debrecen sets a formidable pace and he believes there is no match in the region for the series of successes that has been seen materializing in the past few years.
Subsequent to the complimentary speeches, they gave their digital signatures on a tablet that was then placed in a time capsule. They also enclosed a photo and an object printed by means of 3D technology. All this was placed next to the foundtion stone in style by a robot.
