Debrecen to become the capital of the Eastern Region of Hungary
Mr. László Palkovics, Cabinet Minister and Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen signed an agreement on the largest ever government subsidy for Debrecen on December 5, 2018.
The area and the vicinity of the Northwestern Business Sector of Debrecen will have road, rail, and other infrastructural development projects financed from a source of nearly 130 billion HUF. Mr. László Papp pointed out at the press event linked to the ceremonial signing: the largest ever subsidy agreement in Debrecen’s history has been signed and added that the basis of growth in the city is her economy, which has attracted 500 billion HUF worth of working capital into the city and 6000 new jobs have been created in the past there years. Mr. László Palkovics, Minister with the portfolio of innovation and technology, touched upon the scheme through which the government is intending to promote the development of Hungarian municipalites and their vicinity, by means of concluding agreements. The most reliable feedback is the willingness of major international companies to invest and develop in Hungary. The most spectacular example of this willingness in 2018 is the decision made by BMW to locate investment in Debrecen.
