DÓSA NÁDOR SQUARE AND CSAPÓ STREET WILL BE RENEWED
Dósa nádor Square and Csapó Street will be reconstructed as part of the New Phoenix Plan Green City Program. More than 11,000 square metres will be renewed, and the green surface will increase to eight time its present size in the new promenade of the city – said Vice Mayor Ákos Balázs at his press conference on 14 February 2020.
The development is implemented as part of the project called „The innovative reconstruction of downtown Debrecen”. The application was submitted in the topic of Green city establishment published within the Territorial and settlement development operational programme. A total of 1.77 billion HUF European Union grant is available to implement the project. The cost of the reconstruction of Dósa nádor Square and Csapó Street is a net amount of 730 million HUF. When planning how this place should be reconstructed, the city leaders aimed to create a new community space that can form an organic part of the main square and they also wanted to allow for the setup of a much larger green area. In order to achieve the above, a large and coherent surface for plants and turf will be created. Several thousand bushes will be planted and 360 square metres will be covered by lawn. The investment is expected to be completed by mid-August 2020.
