Mr. László Pósán: „Allegiante to the nation was a sacred cause for Count István Tisza
The one-time Prime Minister of Hungary assasinated in 1918 was commemorated in Debrecen. Mr. László Pósán, Member of Parliament for Debrecen, pointed out in his specch that it was through the good offices of Prime Minister Count István Tisza that the University of Debrecen got established.
The commemorators gathered around the statue of Count István Tisza on the 100th anniversary of the late prime minister’s martyrdom. As Mr. László Pósán, himself a historian by profession, put it in his speech: Count István Tisza was the most erudite, knowledgeable, and the best prepared politician of his time whose whole life and work had been devoted to strengthening the Hungarian people. He had done much as a politician and as a private person alike to promote the development of education in Hungary.
