Nagyerdei (Great Forest Park) kindergarten upgraded within and without
As part of the educational programme of the New Phoenix Plan, renovation of the building of the Nagyerdei (Great Forest Park) kindergarten has been accomplished.
In the framework of the same programme, two sites of the Liget kindergarten had been upgraded in 2017: one in Bartók Béla avenue and the other one in Babits street. The next phase of the programme was to be the complex upgrading of the Nagyerdei kindergarten. The old wing of the kindergarten was built in the 1940’s while its new annex was built in 1976. Over this long period of time the building has fallen into remarkable obsolescence from a technolobical point of view which required upgrading from an economical point of view, too.
The complex upgrading of the building has been accomplished in the course of this investment project involving the open-air activity sections, as well as the full unobsructed accessibility of the whole of the premises of Nagyerdei kindergarten. The obsolete outer casements have been replaced by modern, fully insulated ones. The indoor areas have been wholly upgraded. The electrical systems have been modernized and a solar system has been installed and the architectural engineering networks have also been modernized. The playing terraces and playgrounds have been altered, the fences, the entrance gates have been renovated and the yard received a new cover and a synthetically covered running track (tarmac) has also been built. The renovation of the building contributes to energy efficient operation and the cost of maintenance is also reduced. The modernization project is financed from an EU subsidy won by the Debrecen local government and it allocated 7,376,230 HUF worth of its own resource. 200 little children can return into an upgraded environment of eight classromms in the Nagyerdő kindergarten.
