New pedestrian crossings to be built in Debrecen
New pedestrian crossings are to be built at seven busy intersections. The programme will start at the meeting point of Vincellér and Derék streets – announced Mr. Attila Csaholczi and Ms. Ibolya Aurélia Orosz, members of the Council on May 29, 2019.
The New Phoenix Plan takes into consideration not only the major urban development neeeds but also the minor development tasks of primary importance for the individual wards of town and the needs of the residents living in adjucent areas of the city. In order to increase the security of traffic, new pedestrian crossings are to be built at several busy intersections: at Vincellér and Derék streets; Viola and Ibolya streets; Cseresznye street – Monostorpályi road; Veres Péter – Radnóti Miklós streets; Határ road – FAG access road; István road – Kristály street; as well as Szávay Gyula – Hun streets intersections. The seven new pedestrian crossings will incur a cost of 11 million HUF out of Debrecen local government’s own budgetary sources. Work in all the seven locations will have been completed by the time the school-year begins in September.
