
The Budget of Debrecen City of County Rights – economic development, urban utilities maintenance operation and the Green City Programme
Mr. Lajos Barcsa, deputy mayor of Debrecen held a press conference with special regard to issues concerning economic development, urban utilities maintenance operations and the ’’Green City” Programme on February 15, 2018.
The planned budget for this year has the highest balance-sheet total ever, to the tune of 87.450 billion HUF. Its heading for development also has the highest total with 36.8 billion HUF which will vouch for the materialization of the development projects in corporated in the New Phoenix Plan.
All of the more than 100 development projects will be carried out besides the steady operation of the municipality: urban maintanance opration remains unbroken and increased resources one going to be available for the upkeep of green surfaces compared with fiscal year 2017.
I. Operational tasks in urban maintenance.
For fiscal year 2018 priority attention was paid to sustainable urban utilities operation. In order to secure this purpose more than 1 billion HUF has been committed to urban utilities maintenance operaton in Debrecen.
II. Tasks in the up-keep of green surfaces
A separate heading has been ear-marked specifically for the upkeep of green surfaces and their development in Debrecen since fiscal year 2017. The sum-total of sources this year ear-marked for this column has been increased by 200 million HUFover that of last year.
III. THE NEW PHOENIX PLAN
All applications for the development projects in the Regianal Development Operation Programme (TOP 102) had been submitted by our city government by December 30, 2017.
Out of the 102 projects, our local government is in possession of contracted subsidy for 63 projects and another 28 project applications have been favourably decided and the conclusion of contracts is in progress while in the case of 11 further projects decisions are just being expected.
6 development projects have been accomplished, 12 are in progress and 84 other projects are in the preparatory stage. The 12 projects in the implementation stage amount to 7.1 billion HUF.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Economic development investments are of outstanding significance, for their realization contributes substantially to the revenues of the city in the future. The Development of the Industrial areas, the innovation program designed to start, the airport, educational institutions together with the theatres and the developments in transportation and traffic all markedly facilitate the strenghtening of the regional and even pan-European role of Debrecen.
