THE COUNCIL FOR SENIORS’ AFFAIRS IS RECONSTITUTED
The Council for Seniors’ Affairs was reconstituted in the new municipal cycle on 14 January 2020. The organisation expanded, and now 6 senior organisations participate in their activity.
The mandate of the Council for Seniors’ Affairs established in 2016 came to an end at the same time with the municipal elections of 2019, and parallel to the establishment of the new board of municipal councillors it was reconstituted. The council discussed the issue of the seniors’ affairs strategy of Debrecen in preparation at its first session on 14 January 2020. The strategy searches answers ¬– in cooperation with senior people’s organisations ¬– for questions that concern pensioners: healthcare and social support for the elderly, as well as their cultural and free-time activities. The strategy will include proposals by senior people’s organisations as well, and it will be the General Assembly of the city to approve it in its final form. The Seniors’ Affairs Strategy defines goals and duties for the period between 2020 and 2025.
