The Night of Literature in Debrecen
The many-faceted literary landscape of Debrecen has been further enriched by a new festival – that of the night of literature. Between 17.00 o’clock and 23.00 o’clock on March 28, 2019, 23 texts of 23 authors from 22 countries were read out on 23 locations by 23 actors of the Csokonai National Theatre of Debrecen.
The night of literature is an unconventional event. It held out the promise of a very special experience, for the literary pieces written in foreign languages impact on us through the voices of popular actors in interesting and unusual places in the company of other people. The press conference announcing the event was held in Csokonai National Theatre on March 26, 2019, attended by Mr. Szabolcs Komolay, deputy mayor of Debrecen, Mr. Péter Gemza, director of Csokonai National Theatre, Ms. Lucie Orbók, the chief organizer of the event, director of the Czech Centrum and President of EUNIC Hungary (the umbrella organization of Cultural Institutes and the cultural sections of European Embassies in Budapest); and Ms. Beáta Adorján, dramaturg, and actress Ms. Anna Kubik.
