The third anniversary of the Greek-rite Cathoolic Metropolia celebrated
Three years ago, on March 19, 2015 Pope Francis resolved to found a parish of the rank of an exarchate (arch bishopric) of its own right for the Hungarian Greek-rite catholics (Uniates), whose seat is to be in Debrecen.
On the occasion of this historic event, Mr. Lajos Kósa, minister without portfolio, donated a document related to the Greek-rite Catholic (Uniate) church and dating back to 1703, to Arch-bishop (Metropolite) Fülöp Kocsis. It was through this sovereign assent issued and signed by the prince of Transylvania, Ferenc Rákóczi II. that the settlement of the first Greek-rite Catholic family in Debrecen was permitted to settle. The copy of facsimile of this unique document was taken over by Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen.
