The upgrading of the building of the Debrecen Music School gets started
Beginning the upgrading of the building of the Debrecen Music School (Zenede) in the framework of the New Phoenix Plan was the theme of the press conference given by Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen, on July 23, 2018.
It was in 1863, that is more than 150 years ago, that the Debrecen Music School (Zenede) started operating – which is still in operation as a Musical Secondary Grammar and Comprehensive and Primary School – Basic level art school, an institution that provides an excellent background to basic and higher level musical education and to professional and amateur choirs alike. The building is a listed Heritage Building.
The building has by now fallen into some degree of disrepair and its up-grading renovation is long past due. Upgrading is, at long last, to start. The Local Government of Debrecen has won a subsidy of a gross total of 360 million HUF from the Regional Development Operative Programme for the energetic modernization of the Music School (Zenede) building. The subsidization intensity of the project is 100 per cent.
Foreseeably, the school can return into its upgraded and modernized building in the early spring of 2019.
