Traffic development programme to continue in another intersection
As part of the New Phoenix Plan, one more intersection, the one at Bartók Béla avenue and Pesti street, is to undergo some upgrading work.
The details of the project were revealed by Mr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen and Mr. Lajos Barcsa, deputy mayor of Debrecen and also councilman for the ward at a press meeting on March 18, 2019. The construction of a separate right-hand turn lane of a length of 100 metres has been started as part of the Debrecen Traffic Development Programme. By building a new right-turn lane onto Pesti street, the pile-up on the straight-forward lane is expected to disappear. As a result of upgrading the intersection, its permeability is remarkably increased and a radical change is expected in the flow of the right-hand-turn traffic. This investment project for the improvement of the traffic organization of the Western sector of town is part of a European Union application submitted for funds amounting to 33,318,463 HUF, 100 per cent of which is covered by European Union subvention.
